Teacher Spotlight: Kailey Braff

Writer's picture: GabrielleGabrielle

We often feature one of our teachers in our monthly family newsletter, and we're going to start sharing those here on our blog as well! This September, we're spotlighting Kailey Braff. Kailey is one of our piano instructors, and is starting her second year of teaching here at the Academy.

Let's find out a little more about her!

Piano Instructor Kailey Braff

What's your primary instrument? Piano

Where did you go to school for your music degree? Coe College

What music group do you perform with? The Mays Island Quartet

What’s one musical experience you’ve had that you’ll never forget? Getting to compete in a solo competition at Coe College with Rhapsody in Blue, a piece I’ve loved since childhood. I didn’t win, but I still got to play this piece in my senior recital at Coe, which was a win for me.

What composers do you love? Chopin and Debussy are two favorites of mine.

Do you have any pieces you love to perform over & over again? I like to play the first and last section of Chopin’s Etude Op. 10, No. 3 (Tristesse). I need to relearn the middle section.

Thanks for chatting with us, Kailey!
